Womens Game
2024-2025
Powered by the StFX Alumni Association, history was made at the first-ever Women’s Pucks for Purpose charity hockey game — and the first women’s rival charity hockey game in all of Canada. The inaugural game was made extra special with an appearance from the Stanley Cup!
This groundbreaking event brought together students, faculty, alumni, and community members for a night that celebrated women’s hockey, school spirit, and purpose — helping contribute to the total amount raised of $130,000 for the Canadian Cancer Society and Motionball for Special Olympics Nova Scotia.
With the Business and Arts & Science faculties facing off for the first time ever, the energy in the sold-out arena was off the charts. The game opened with a powerful ceremonial puck drop by Linda Hakin. From puck drop to final buzzer, the action was nonstop. The ArtSci team delivered a dominant performance, skating away with a 5–1 victory and proudly hoisting the Sakonnet Cup as the inaugural champions.
While ArtSci claimed the win on the ice, the true victory was the unity, support, and impact made by everyone who came together to be part of this historic moment in Canadian women’s hockey.
