2023-2024

The first-ever Pucks for Purpose charity hockey game, held on March 13th, 2024, marked a historic moment on campus, bringing together students, faculty, and the broader community for an unforgettable night. In front of a sold-out arena of over 1,500+ fans, the Business and Art-Sci faculties faced off!

The night began with a ceremonial puck drop performed by Father Stan, the national anthem, "O Canada," was sung by a Special Olympics athlete, and the Intermissions featured unique and entertaining activities that set Pucks for Purpose apart from any other event with over 5000$ of prizes given away to the crowd during the night. Professors took to the ice to compete in a game of sledge hockey, and one lucky fan even had the opportunity to participate in a "Shoot to Win a Car" contest! In the end the Business Team came out on top in a hard-fought 10-7 victory.

Pucks for Purpose raised $55,000, which was split between the Canadian Cancer Society and Motionball for Special Olympics Nova Scotia. The night continued beyond the game at a sold-out afterparty that capped off an unforgettable event. For an inaugural event, Pucks for Purpose shattered expectations and earned the title of "Society of the Year" in its very first year of existence—a testament to the hard work, dedication, and passion of everyone involved.
